Cijenjene kolegice i kolege, dragi biolozi!
Pred nama je jubilarni 10. Hrvatski biološki kongres. Prvi kongres Hrvatskog biološkog društva 1885, organiziran je u Poreču 1981. a sada 28 godina kasnije
vrijeme je za prvi veliki jubilej. Moja je osobita čast, ali i veliko zadovoljstvo pozvati Vas u Osijek, grad u kojemu je visoko obrazovanje tradicija već 302 godine, a visoko
obrazovanje biologa 32. Osijek kao sveučilišni grad, ali i kulturno, gospodarsko i administrativno središte istočne Hrvatske ponuditi će Vam gostoprimstvo kakvo mogu pružiti
samo Slavonci - ljudi široka srca.
I ovaj Kongres pružit će program koji će zadovoljiti svaki znanstveni i stručni interes svakog biologa. Jedanaest sekcija i dva simpozija predstavljaju veliku
platformu za razmjenu spoznaja biologa, ali isto tako i mjesto na kojemu će se moći razgovarati o temama interesantnim za modernog biologa. Kao i dosada želimo okupiti nastavnike
biologije osnovnih i srednjih škola kojima se nastoji pružiti prilika da steknu uvid u najnovije biološke spoznaje, ali i primjenu HNOS-a.
Kongres će biti organiziran na način da svaki radni dan počinje s plenarnim predavanjem pozvanih predavača s najnovijim pregledom znanstvenih istraživanja u
Hrvatskoj, ali i uvid u neka vrlo napredna i uzbudljiva područja svjetske biologije. Potom će slijediti rad po sekcijama s tematskim predavanjima i nizom kratkih izlaganja.
Pristup posterskim prezentacijama bit će omogućen tijekom cijeloga kongresa. Intelektualne rasprave vodit će se u nekoliko okruglih stolova o različitim biološkim problemima.
U sklopu Kongresa održat će se i 4. Simpozij Hrvatskog društva za biljnu fiziologiju i 1. Simpozij Hrvatskog entomološkog društva.
Tijekom kongresa organizirat ćemo tematsku sekciju pod nazivom Stoljeće bioloških istraživanja u Kopačkom ritu a stručni izlet u taj izuzetno vrijedan
i rijedak poplavni prostor zaokružit će cjelinu teorija i praksa. Moram dodati da ćemo na tom izletu kušati mnoge baranjske delicije i vrhunska vina.

Dear colleagues, dear biologists!
This congress will be the 10 th jubilary Croatian Biological Congress. The first congress organized by the Croatian Biological Society was organized
in Poreč in 1981, and now, 28 years later it is time for the first anniversary. It is my great honour and privilege to invite you to the city of Osijek, the city where we have
the tradition of 302 years of higher education, and 32 years of study of biology. As a university city, but also as a cultural, economic and administrative center of Eastern
Croatia, Osijek will receive you with a hospitality that can only be provided by Slavonians - the people with big hearts.
This Congress will have a programme that may satisfy all research and professional interests of all biologists. There will be eleven sections and two symposia,
which will be a huge platform for the exchange of findings, but also a place where we can discuss issues of interest to modern biologists. As always, we want to invite school
teachers of biology, who will get insight into the recent developments in biology, as well as the application of the Croatian National Education Standard.
The Congress will follow the usual programme pattern: every day we will start with the plenary lecture by a guest speaker who will provide the most recent
overview of research in Croatia, as well as insights into some very advanced and exciting fields of biological research in the world. After the plenary lectures, there will be
thematic sessions with shorter presentations. The access to the poster session will be possible throughout the conference. Discussion will be organized in several round tables
covering different issues. As part of the Congress we will have the 4th Symposium of the Croatian Society for Plant Physiology and the 1st Symposium of the Croatian Entomological
Society.
There will also be a thematic session titled Kopački rit: century of biological research -thousand species followed by a trip to this valuable
and rare marshland, which will close the circle of theory and practice. This trip will also be an opportunity to taste many specialties and wines of the Baranya region.
